"How to Stay Warm Without Heat"
woool, wool, wool with a layer of silk underneath
be careful wearing wet cotton, wet cotton can kill at cold temps!
eat and drink hot stuff.

Run to improve circulation and keep extremities warmer

If it's super cold, setting up a tent to sleep in can make a difference in night temps, especially with a small tent. The idea of setting up one warm room is good, along with drinking warm drinks (specially herbal tea). Insulating all you can--stuff windows with odd socks, put rolled up towels at the bottoms of doors. If you heat up your pajamas or blankets that will be close to your body before bed, that helps. Wool rocks! I have been knitting wool socks for us. If you can put something where the sun shines (south window) for thermal mass--jugs of water, bricks, it can emit heat at night. Cook beans and take hot showers if you can. On extremely frigid days, visit your local library to warm up!

DOUBLE-WIDE, zero temp. proof or lower sleeping bag. get one now. you can use it as the base for your nest to begin with, then when/if it gets that cold, you can sip it up with both of you inside. they make both square ones, and double-mummys, depends on how much you like to kick your legs around at night. mummys are warmer, but i can't stand the confinement, myself.

get a tent with enough floor-space to fit the double-wide bag, and have something under it--either a winter camping mat, or just piles of wool blankets. you need to have insulation UNDER you, more than on top.
